Supporting you
At West Street, we provide support to six individuals with learning disabilities and physical disabilities; these may be multiple complex disabilities including an enduring health condition and some behavioural support needs.
Our home has established links with the local community and takes advantage of the facilities available. Our residents are encouraged to develop and experience a range of recreational activities and are supported in doing this.
Facilities
Creating a welcoming environment is key to the home, ensuring day to day home living is part of life, alongside recreation, education and socialising. We have four large ground floor bedrooms, which are fully accessible and specifically designed for wheelchair users. All of our bedrooms have ceiling tracking to make personal care dignified, safe and more comfortable. On the first floor we have two self-contained apartments, which contain a bedroom, a lounge and a kitchen. We encourage residents to bring their own belongings and to decorate their rooms in the style they prefer.
Our home has a number of communal rooms; a lounge, a quiet room, a dining room and an assisted showering facility. These have been carefully designed to meet the needs of the people we support and incorporate special features such as height adjustable tables and work surfaces. We also have a sensory room and a private garden with raised flowerbeds. These facilities enable residents to develop skills and build independence.
