Supporting you
At Welland House we provide support to eight people with learning disabilities who may also have physical disabilities and other complex needs. We want everyone who lives at Welland House to live a happy and contented life, fulfilling as many of their aspirations as possible, while maintaining their health.
We enable individuals to build self-esteem and independence and offer privacy, respect and dignity. We give everyone choices and ensure decisions are discussed, either with the individual themselves or, if this is not possible, an appropriate family member or advocate.
Our home is welcoming and lively. We work hard to meet each individual’s needs and ensure everyone has the opportunity to do the things they want to do. Activities people we support currently enjoy include skating, swimming, art classes, going to church, growing flowers and vegetables and going to discos and pubs.
Facilities
On the ground floor there are four spacious bedrooms, each with its own high specification, level access shower room. The service is designed to meet individuals’ needs, with equipment such as lifts, hoists, specialist baths and adjustable kitchen surface and appliances. There is a garden with a lawn and a sensory garden to the rear of the building, as well as a large, level patio area.
On the first floor are two self-contained two bedroom flats, which are designed to allow more independent or private accommodation with full 24-hour support from the staff team. Each flat comprises two bedrooms, each with a fully tracked, level access shower room. The flats also have their own living room and dining kitchen with height adjustable cooking facilities.
The team
We have enthusiastic staff who work as a team, communicate well and are continually looking at ways to improve our home. They all go the extra mile and this has been acknowledged by many family members. The team has a mixture of ages and men and women, all of whom have different qualities which together create a strong service.
