Supporting you
We can support people with learning disabilities, moderate physical disabilities, cerebral palsy, visual or hearing impairment, epilepsy, brain injuries and associated mental health needs. Four women currently live at the home and the staff team are also female and support each person in line with their needs and wishes.
At The Acorns each person is supported to develop their independence and expand their aspirations in life. Our residents are aged from mid-20s to early 40s and enjoy a variety of pursuits, in particular swimming, trampolining, theatre, live shows and socialising. There is also a shared passion for the arts, crafts and cooking. People are supported to attend individual classes and sensory sessions if they wish.
Facilities
The layout of The Acorns includes a large lounge, separate dining room and kitchen. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities and the home is decorated stylishly throughout. The home has a fully accessible garden with a large decked area, perfect for social gatherings, barbeques and al fresco dining.
The team
The home has a modern and vibrant atmosphere with a very positive attitude held by those who live in the home, the supporting staff team and the manager.
Staff are experienced and well trained in supporting the needs of the residents, as well as in many other complementary areas such as promoting positive communication and independence. This provides a very encouraging and motivating environment for people wishing to develop their independence and personal skills and clearly demonstrates person-centred approaches.
