At St Barnabas Road we provide care and support for six residents with a mild to moderate learning disabilities and autism. Our staff have lots of experience of supporting people with complex or challenging needs.

Supporting you

We recognise the importance of relationships with family and friends and visitors are welcome at any reasonable time. We also support people to develop new friendships as well as encouraging everyone to participate in house meetings and become involved in recruiting new staff.

Facilities

St Barnabas Road has five bedrooms and a large communal/dining area which are well furnished. We have a large mature garden at the rear of the property which accommodates for a variety of activities and barbeques in the summer. We have a large kitchen which is ideal for our staff and residents to collectively participate in cooking activities.

The home is in a residential area of Emmer Green with close public transport links into Reading town centre and is only a ten minute walk from Caversham. Everyone is encouraged to participate in a programme of activities that reflects their individual choices and preferences.

We have strong links with the community and access local facilities for the people we support such as using trampolining, bike riding and horse and carriage rides. One of our residents has a work placement at a garden centre.

About Amanda

Amanda has worked in care for over 30 years, and is passionate about helping the people we support live fulfilled lives. Her role as Service Manager includes overseeing the team and carrying out supervisions, training and staff meetings. Amanda also manages budgets and finances within the home, and ensures the care being given to the people we support is of the highest quality.

About Ayesha

Ayesha joined Voyage Care in May 2015. She trained as a learning disability nurse and has worked within the social care sector since 1990 covering a wide range of children's and adults’ services. Ayesha has held a number of senior appointments and immediately prior to joining Voyage Care held the post of Director of Operations for one of the largest domiciliary care providers in England and Wales. Ayesha has first-hand experience of care pathways and the journey through step-down services, as a parent of a child with complex needs.
