Southview is one of our autism specialist services located in Hampshire. Here, we provide support for up to five young adults with autism, learning disabilities, epilepsy and challenging behaviour.
Supporting you
Our specially trained team empowers each person we support to reach their goals and recognise their achievements, no matter how big or small. We believe everyone should have a varied and fulfilling life, with the choice to pursue meaningful opportunities in the local community and beyond, such as studying at college and going to night clubs.
Each person we support benefits from an individual care plan centred around their needs, preferences and interests. We encourage everyone to get involved in how their home is run and take on a level of responsibility that’s right for them. Our housemates take pride in maintaining a clean and tidy home, and even get involved with interviewing new team members or overseeing maintenance checks!
Several people have developed special roles within the home, supporting activities and the development of their housemates. We currently have our very own Party Co-ordinator and a dedicated Makaton Co-ordinator in post! To ensure we’re meeting the needs of the people we support, we regularly hold house meetings where everyone can share their thoughts and voice their opinions.
At Southview, we encourage the people we support to take part in activities at home and in the local community. Popular activities include swimming, theatre and cinema trips, visiting day centres, hydrotherapy, and sensory sessions. We often feel adventurous and take trips further afield, visiting attractions such as the zoo, aquariums, nearby Stately Homes and cathedrals. We also like to embrace a change of scenery and take holidays!
Facilities
Our spacious home has plenty of communal areas where the people we support can enjoy socialising. We benefit from a large lounge, kitchen, dining room, and garden. Overlooking the garden is a peaceful reading area where the people we support enjoy relaxing and spending some time alone. We also have a sensory room, equipped with sensory tools tailored to meet the needs of our housemates. All our bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, ensuring they are accessible to those with mobility needs.
