Markham house is a specialist brain injury rehabilitation service located in Chesterfield. Our dedicated team use person-centred support for up to 17 adults with brain injuries. Using slow stream rehabilitation, we support them to rehabilitate and redevelop their cognitive and practical skills in a functional setting.
As part of our rehabilitation pathways, we offer in-house therapy sessions to support skills redevelopment, as well as engaging the people we support with our local community, opening opportunities for them to apply their skills to every day settings.
Facilities
Situated in a quiet area, our spacious home comprises a large residential building with 11 en-suite bedrooms and a separate apartment annex to the rear.
Our main building offers 24-hour residential support and is fully equipped to meet the needs of the people we support. Spread across two floors, we have access to the first floor via a lift as well as wide corridors for full accessibility.
We also have plenty of communal areas, including a lounge, and an open plan kitchen and dining room.
We love to keep busy and develop our talents! We have a dedicated arts and crafts room on the first floor – we proudly display our creations throughout the home.
Within our grounds, we have six self-contained ground floor apartments, designed to enhance independence for those ready to take the next step on their rehab journey.
Our apartments offer the ideal environment for reclaiming independence with the added security and reassurance of a residential setting and our expert team.
Each apartment features a kitchenette and lounge area, a bedroom and a shower room. All our bungalows overlook our peaceful garden.
Just next door to our main building is our day annex, which features a quiet room and a training kitchen – great for practicing daily living skills and further enhancing independence.
We also have a large, enclosed garden, wrapping around the main building and providing a beautiful view for the apartments. Our established garden is complete with a large lawn, a patio area, and curated shrubbery – ideal for attracting wildlife.
We encourage all housemates to pitch in and maintain the garden to help with developing their daily living skills. Together, we keep the garden thriving and even enjoy growing herbs and different flowers!
