John Cabot House is accredited through Headway and is a specialised service delivering community based rehabilitation for individuals with brain injury. We support a spectrum of complex and cognitive needs and are designed to provide a full continuum of care, support and enablement.

Supporting you

We support and enable adults with a brain injury through a rehabilitation approach with focus on social reintegration and increased independence.

We offer a continuum of care and support for individuals who may require intensive support following deterioration in their mental health or are displaying complex and challenging needs.

It may also be of interest to those who are ready to move from hospital into the community but need a period of intense structure and support to improve their confidence and independence skill or require specialist support within the home.

Through assessment we can offer personalised continuing rehabilitation with the input of neuro therapy across a wide range of disciplines. To enable a continuum of care and support we also provide community support.

Our rehabilitation programmes are personalised and designed around the specific needs of each individual. For some people the stay will be relatively short, lasting only a few months; others can be assured that whilst continued progress is important, longer stays are possible.

Reviews are held regularly with goals measured and discussed with a view to discharge home or into a more independent setting.

Facilities

The house is a newly-refurbished Grade II listed building with the generous proportions expected of a building of that period, but an internal specification which reflects modern day style and levels of comfort.

It offers six bedrooms all with ensuite facilities. There are three spacious communal living areas, an additional training kitchen and a conservatory looking out over private mature walled gardens.

The service also benefits from the addition of two self-contained ground floor apartments. These apartments offer the opportunity for individuals to have greater independence, with the reassurance of the 24 hour support in the adjacent service and enable assessment of support needs for moving into a more independent setting such as supported living or own home.

The apartments also offer flexibility for those with moderate to high support needs who wish to live alone or find it difficult to live within a group setting.
