At Heath Road we specialise in supporting people who have learning disabilities and challenging behaviours. We also support autistic adults.
Supporting you
We work primarily with younger adults who have complex needs and a primary diagnosis of one of the following:
• Learning disabilities
• Autism
• Epilepsy
• Severe challenging behaviours
We also have experience of supporting people with the following needs:
• Physical disabilities
• Underlying general health problems
• Mental health issues
• Behaviours that appear challenging
• Drug and/or alcohol misuse
• Forensic histories
The overarching aim of our home is to provide high quality, responsive and flexible individual support, care and/or treatment programmes that are designed to meet each resident’s needs and wishes.
Our objective is to achieve positive outcomes by applying the least restrictive approach whilst supporting each resident to maintain and build their skills and always working in the person’s best interests.
We very much welcome friends and family members visiting the home at any time and genuinely believe in an “open door” policy. Everyone is supported to live a full and active life and empowered to make informed choices.
We are committed to developing positive lifestyles for people with disabilities and associated problems, including behaviours that challenge services.
Facilities
Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with either a bath or shower, depending on individual preferences. We encourage people to bring their own belongings and to decorate their rooms in the style they prefer.
We have two large lounges and two small lounges, one of which has French doors opening onto a large decking area. The different shared areas offer residents a choice of watching television or DVDs or relaxing quietly.
We have a spacious main kitchen with two dining areas. Everyone can get involved in making meals and snacks and there is also a separate training kitchen for promoting independent living skills.
Our home also has a sensory room and a room which is used for activities.
