Hamilton Lodge provides support for eight individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs, who may show behaviours that challenge.
Supporting you
The ethos of the home is to provide high quality of care to each individual within a homely environment with the staff supporting each person to build their everyday living skills and reach their full potential.
Staff work in a consistent, person-centred way to communicate information and knowledge which each resident requires in order to make decisions on how they wish to live their lives.
Residents are encouraged to take part in a variety of activities, both at the home and in the community.
In house activities include baking, arts and crafts, playing board games, themed nights and gardening. Hamilton Lodge makes full use of local facilities such as the swimming pool, the cinema, local parks and local Mencap facilities.
Hamilton Lodge has its own vehicle which can be used for appointments, activities and to visit relatives.
Facilities
Hamilton Lodge consists of eight bedrooms with ensuite facilities, a large communal lounge, a smaller lounge which can be used as a quiet room or activity room, and a large dining room which can seat up to 16 people.
There is also a smaller area in the kitchen with a dining table should people wish to sit elsewhere. The kitchen is on a spilt level to enable people to independently prepare food. The grounds of the home are spacious and well maintained and accessed via a sweeping driveway.
The garden is accessible and provides people with the opportunity to grow vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers. Each individual is appointed a key worker and co-worker who support them in all aspects of their lives.
Care is delivered using a person-centred approach and we encourage families and friends to be part of this process.
The team
The staff work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including healthcare professionals, social workers and others who are involved in the persons care.
We encourage everyone to have a healthy diet which meets their individual needs, supporting them to choose menu’s, assist with shopping and support to prepare their meals independently.
Holidays are planned throughout the year. Each resident is encouraged to choose where they would like to visit and are supported by staff while on holiday.
