Dove House provides specialist, person centred support for four people who have learning disabilities and autistic spectrum disorders and can exhibit behaviours that challenge.
Supporting you
Support is tailored to the individual, always with the goal of encouraging as much independence as possible. Each individual is supported to plan and take part in a weekly timetable of activities both at home and in the wider community, ranging from swimming to cooking and gardening, all with the aim of working towards developing skills and achieving their hopes and dreams.
Dove house shares a log cabin in the garden with another Voyage Care service which enables activities to be planned. It has a pool table and can also be used as a relaxing environment for the individuals we support.
Each resident is also encouraged to take part in a range of daily living activities which are also integrated into their daily planners. Individuals are supported to complete tasks around the house from collecting the weekly shop to dusting and hovering.
Regular meetings take place to ensure that everyone can participate in making household decisions and has the opportunity to put forward their ideas.
Comprehensive support guidelines and communication plans are in place to ensure a consistently high standard of support is given.
Facilities
Dove House is bright and roomy with four spacious ensuite bedrooms. All bedrooms can be personalised and have enough room for a double bed, double wardrobe and sofa.
There is a warm, welcoming lounge with French doors that open out onto the patio area of the large, enclosed rear garden which is ideal for barbecues or simply relaxing on summer days.
There is a modern, well equipped kitchen at the centre of the home which is adjacent to the dining room. The home itself is set back from the road with large front and rear gardens.
Everyone living at Dove House has access to the service’s own transport which enables them to get out and about easily and safely.
The team
Staff are trained and experienced in offering support to each individual in the way that they prefer and at the times they want to receive this.
