Facilities

Our newly refurbished home has widened corridors and a lift, providing wheelchair friendly accessibility for those that need it.

We have spacious communal areas such as a dining room and kitchen, great for enjoying tasty meals together! We also have two bathrooms in our home, one of which has been adapted for accessibility purposes with rails and ceiling tracking.

Our large garden is great for soaking up the sun and taking part in social gardening activities. Everyone living at Churchfield Avenue is encouraged to actively look after their home, by getting involved in daily living tasks such as cooking and cleaning.

The team

Our team consists of dedicated individuals that are well-trained and experienced in meeting the needs of the people we support. We ensure that ongoing training is provided so our colleagues can support individuals to achieve their aspirations and enjoy a high quality of life.

Tailored support is built around the needs of each individual and promotes their independence. We have a support team on duty 24 hours a day, along with a key worker system which helps the people we support to build trusting relationships with our team. We offer both 1:1 support and shared care, depending on the individual’s needs.

Churchfield Avenue is located in Sawston, a 20-minute drive away from Cambridge town centre. We have a bus stop directly outside of the property which offers convenient access to Cambridge. We also have a minibus available for fun trips to the cinema and the bowling alley! A short walk away, you can find a pub, a library, a café, and plenty of local shops!

The people we support are encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities both inside the home and within the local community. Some of the activities we get up to include – coffee mornings, a cinema club inviting other local homes to join in with the fun, holistic therapy, music therapy and even health and beauty treatments such as inviting in a mobile hairdresser, a podiatrist or having manicure sessions!

But the fun doesn’t stop there! We enjoy parties, arts and crafts, making music together and we regularly host karaoke sessions! Every Friday night we also attend Friday night club as well as other social evenings at a local community centre called Horizons.

Family involvement is important too and is actively encouraged here at Churchfield Avenue!
