At Chard Manor we provide care and support for ten young adults with a severe learning disability, autism and high care needs such as sensory impairments and epilepsy. We also have experience of supporting people following a traumatic brain injury as well.
Supporting you
Our residents living at Chard Manor have a wide variety of communication requirements and staff – working closely with the speech and language therapy team – are trained and experienced in providing a person-centred approach, from verbal communication to Makaton and person specific techniques.
Each individual has a personal and detailed communication plan which is regularly updated. Each individual is supported to plan a weekly timetable of activities that they enjoy, both inside and outside of their home, which enables them to further develop living skills and promote independence and choice.
They are supported to carry out all aspects of daily living and encouraged to participate in household decisions through monthly individual and house meetings.
The people who live here are encouraged to be as independent as possible and are supported to attend appointments and social activities and become involved in community events.
The people living at Chard Manor also have full use of the service’s own transport, as well as regular access to public transport to enable them to enjoy activities and events further afield.
