Quality Checker conference: coaching, collaboration, celebration!
Our team of Quality Checkers and their support staff came together at Drayton Manor on 4 – 5 June for the very first annual Quality Checker conference! Our Quality Checkers work to alongside our Quality team, to make sure the voices of the people we support are at the heart of how quality is measured. The two-day event kicked off with an unforgettable evening – a ties and tiaras ball. “The party was great! I had a dance,” said Quality Checker, Stephen.
Abigail and Leanne, from Sadlers Place in Walsall, pulled out all the stops – they styled their hair, painted their nails and were supported to select the perfect outfit for the ball!
The following day, it was down to business! The Quality Checker team and their support staff took part in a variety of workshops, including an inspirational talk by two of the more experienced Quality Checkers about their journey, and an informative session helping them to understand the principles of active support. The Quality Checkers, who are based across the UK, had the opportunity to share with each other their newfound skills and knowledge.
Cam*, a Quality Checker who is supported in Somerset said: “The different topics today have been very interesting, especially active support. It was good to see how we can all be encouraged to be more independent and not isolated.”
Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Cannon was delighted to meet the new team members.
“What a fantastic two days! It’s been great to see all of our Quality Checkers in one room and sharing best practice together. They’re really important to us – they tell us how our services should be designed and delivered. We’re so grateful for all of their hard work.”
