Woodlands is rated CQC ‘Outstanding’!
Based in Middlesbrough, Woodlands is one of our specialist brain injury rehabilitation services, supporting 14 people in regaining their social, cognitive and independence skills following a brain injury. Woodlands is one of our incredible services rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following their last inspection in 2018.
This is an amazing achievement, highlighting our team’s dedication and commitment to providing high-quality care and support. At Woodlands, we empower the people we support to make decisions about how they want to live, creating tailored, person-centred support plans that allow us to support them in accomplishing their goals!
We checked in with the Woodlands team to find out how they achieved this status and what it means for the service.
What do the CQC look for in an inspection?
During their inspections, the CQC want to see how responsive we are with addressing the needs of the people we support.
If something isn’t working, they want to see what our intended action plan is, our proposed timeline for dealing with this, and how these actions will support the service in achieving a positive outcome for the individual.
They also want to see that the people we support are individually looked after with care tailored directly to their needs. This helps to ensure we are supporting every person to achieve their life aspirations through the care provided!
What difference does the CQC ‘Outstanding’ rating make to the people we support?
Our CQC ‘Outstanding’ rating gives the people we support the sense of security that the care they are receiving is of a very high standard, so they can continue living a happy and fulfilled life.
We’re always looking for solutions to help the people we support do and achieve exactly what they want to.
For those looking for a new placement for themselves or a loved one, one of the first things they look at is what quality of care the service is providing and what the service can deliver.
The overall ‘Outstanding’ rating provides reassurance and confidence in the support we provide at Woodlands.
When people visit, they always comment on how Woodlands feels like a home…and that is what we always strive to achieve!
How does it feel to be rated CQC ‘Outstanding’?
It’s a very humbling experience. The team have worked so hard to keep achieving positive outcomes for the people we support. So, it’s amazing to achieve this recognition.
The report specifically recognised the team here at Woodlands, which gave them so much encouragement to keep doing what they do best.
To see that the overall quality regulator for the sector recognises the individual achievements of both the team and the people we support is the best news ever! We are so proud of this achievement.
Together we are the Woodlands family.
