Purpose-built brain injury rehabilitation service to open!
We’re excited to announce that Voyage Care is opening a brand-new brain injury rehabilitation service in Staffordshire! Opening 2022, this property will offer support for up to seven individuals with brain injuries, mental health needs and challenging behaviour.
Part of a transitional pathway
Named Rugeley Road, this Burntwood service is ideal as part of a transitional pathway, or for longer-term placements.
Using a collaborative approach with external professionals, Rugely Road will play a key role in facilitating rehabilitation support plans. For example, the Voyage Care pathway model (shown below) uses supported living apartments as the next step in growing an individual’s confidence and independent living skills.
From here, they may transition into more independent living, managing their own tenancies for example.
Accessibility in mind
This purpose-built development has been designed with accessibility and safety of those supported in mind.
For example, each one-bedroom apartment has a spacious kitchen-lounge and wet room. The apartments will be full furnished and ready to be personalised to the individual’s requirements. Alongside the 24/7 on-site support, there is a lift between floors and the option for assistive technology to maximise independence.
Fit for purpose
Louise Houghton, ABI Placement Manager at Voyage Care, commented:
“We’re really looking forward to the service opening at the start of 2022 as we can see there is a real need for this type of support in the local area. We’ve taken our time to make sure it’s really fit for purpose and will support people to live the life they want to.
“The location is ideal for those wanting to be part of the local community. It’s located near Cannock Chase with lots of wildlife and walks. There’s also good public transport links, and we’re near the local leisure centre, supermarkets, local colleges and more!”
