“I feel valued by everyone I work with, which motivates me even more to succeed.”
To celebrate National Careers Week, we sat down with Operations Manager, Urvi Patel, to talk all things recruitment, interviews and why she chose a career in care.
What do you look for when recruiting support workers?
The four things I definitely look for when recruiting is passion, empathy, flexibility and commitment to the job.
What interview tips would you give someone who is looking for a job as a support worker?
As any interview, always go prepared and don’t be afraid to ask questions. I also feel that using life experiences during the interview goes along way.
What advice would you give to someone who was thinking about working in social care?
Do it! It’ll be the best thing you ever do. I joined the sector because I really wanted to make a difference to people’s lives. My favourite part of my job now is seeing the people we support and spending time with them. You won’t regret it.
What inspires and motivates you?
Seeing the people we support living the best life they can, motivates me every day. When I see them happy, content and meeting their outcomes and achieving their goals, it pushes me to want to do more.
Why do you enjoy working for Voyage Care?
I absolutely love my job! I feel valued by everyone I work with, which motivates me even more to succeed. My personal welfare is also considered alongside my wish to deliver exceptional care.
