Have yourself a small but special Christmas
Children’s Complex Care provide specialist support to children and young adults with complex care needs so they can manage their care in the comfort of their own home.
Ensuring those we support are surrounded by family and close friends is a critical part of the care we deliver, and this is especially true at Christmas.
However, due to Government guidelines, this may not be possible this year. COVID-19 restrictions mean that for most of us, Christmas might feel a little smaller and a little different in 2020.
But small doesn’t mean it can’t be special and there are still lots of ways you can enjoy a fun-filled family Christmas whilst staying safe.
Check out these ideas from the Children’s Complex Care team to inspire you:
1. O’ Christmas Zoom, O’ Christmas Zoom
We’re all becoming pros at online gatherings so why not make the most of it and host a get together with family! Create a Christmas quiz, get silly with Zoom charades and even play virtual games together!
2. Walking in a winter wonderland
Wrap up warm, put your favourite hot drink in a flask, take some snacks and head out on a winter walk. If your tier allows, meet up at a safe distance and enjoy your walk with family and friends. Keep your eyes peeled for festive lights and enjoy the crisp December air!
3. Have a holly, jolly games night
Dust off the old board games, dig out the controllers and have a games night. Make it into a tournament with a prize for the overall winner. If it’s a success, it could become a future tradition!
4. Deck the doorstep with some presents
Surprise loved ones with a doorstep drop off by taking gifts, baked goodies or even just a card to family and friends. Wrap up warm and enjoy a socially-distanced chat from two metres away.
5. All I want for Christmas, is crafts
Host an online Christmas craft party with friends or family! Choose some festive themed things to make, gather supplies, snacks and refreshments then schedule a time and date!
Creative fun from afar
With these ideas, whatever your plans this Christmas, you can still feel close to family whilst having festive fun, even if it is from a distance. It just takes a little bit of creativity.
