It was great to know that someone believed you had the potential

Chelsea Hennefer – Quality & Compliance Administrator

I began working at Voyage Care in April 2014 in the accounts payable team. I enjoy working for the company, as I believed the company as a whole was providing a really great service providing care and support to some of the country’s most vulnerable adults and I was playing a small part of that, as we helped get the bills paid for our services.

In September 2016 I was approached about the vacancy for Quality and Compliance Administrator in the Quality Team, on the recommendation of one of our in-house recruiters. I was shocked that Micheala had approached me but more so that I had been recommended by one of the recruiters. I had never worked in an administrative role and the job in Quality was something very much out of my comfort zone and not something I had experience in, as I had worked in an accounts payable function for four years.  But it was a great feeling to know that someone believed you had the potential.

Following a successful interview I began my time in the Quality team the end of October 2016. The team as a whole, both office and field based, were very welcoming and supportive.

Since then I have received regular supervisions including development plans to ensure that I continue to learn new aspects of the job and take on extra responsibilities. Under my current development plan I am learning the processes of the Regulatory and Registrations section of the team as I will be moving into this role for 12 month to cover maternity leave.

It is great that I am being given the encouragement and support to transition into this role, as it is furthering my skill set and understanding different roles within the quality team.

Some of the reasons I love working at Voyage Care to name a few are:

  • The difference the company makes to the most important people.
  • The opportunity to meet and work with people we support.
  • The support and opportunities that have been offered to me with career progression.
  • The knowledge that if I should ever need further training to assist or progress with my job, it would be encouraged for me to undertake the training.
  • The team that I work with.
  • Knowing that I am appreciated for the work that I do.
